Power BI for automotive dealers, groups and suppliers
Power BI for automotive is a reporting setup that joins vehicle sales, stock, service and quality data in one model. Dealer groups use it to compare stores, while suppliers use it to watch output and defects. Either way, managers stop waiting for a manual report. Our consultants build everything inside your own Microsoft tenant, so the data and the files remain yours.
- Store by store view
- Stock age at a glance
- Service and parts included

Who gets the most from Power BI for automotive?
Two kinds of business call us most. The first is the dealer group with several stores and brands. The second is the supplier that makes parts for vehicle makers. Their data looks different, but their reporting problem is much the same.
A dealer group runs a dealer management system in each store. Every general manager prints a daily sheet, yet the group cannot easily rank stores on the same basis. So the owner sees results late and in ten formats.
A supplier faces a similar gap between the plant floor and the ledger. Output, scrap and delivery figures sit in production systems, while cost sits in the ERP. When the two join in one model, a quality issue shows its price, and that changes which problem gets fixed first.

Dashboards for dealer groups and parts makers
The first four suit retailers and the last two suit manufacturers, so choose what matches your side of the trade.
New and used sales
Units, gross and finance income appear by store, brand and salesperson, so coaching has a starting point.
Stock age
See how long each vehicle has sat on the lot. Then managers act on aged units before value slips further.
Service department
Track repair orders, labor hours sold and technician efficiency, because fixed operations carry the store.
Parts counter
Compare parts sales, stock value and obsolete items across locations, and also flag slow movers.
Production and scrap
Follow output against plan by line and shift. Supervisors then see where scrap concentrates.
Supplier delivery and quality
Measure on-time delivery and defect counts by customer and part, since scorecards depend on both.
Which systems feed automotive reports in Power BI?
For retailers, the dealer management system is the heart of it. A CRM, the stock feed and the accounting module usually sit around it. For suppliers, the ERP and the production or quality system matter most, and many also track shipments in a customer portal.
Access differs by vendor. Some dealer systems provide data through approved programs or scheduled reports, and not through an open database. We work within whatever your contract allows. Therefore the assessment always includes a check of the real export options, before we write a quote.
Vehicle and part identifiers help a lot. A VIN or a part number gives each record a stable key. Still, store and department codes vary, so we build shared lookup tables early. Because each brand codes vehicles differently, our power bi data modeling work settles one vehicle table first.
When a business should adopt Power BI for automotive
If you nod at three or more of these, a group-wide model will repay the effort.
- Every store sends a different daily sheet
- Aged stock goes unseen until month end
- Service results never reach the owner
- Scrap cost is a guess on the floor
- Customer scorecards arrive as a surprise
- Month-end close delays every report
How our Power BI for automotive projects run

Introductory call
In a free thirty minute call, you describe your stores or plants. We then suggest the first useful page.
Agreed scope
A written quote fixes sources, locations and pages, so there is no later surprise.
Pilot location
We build for one store or line first, because real data reveals coding quirks quickly.

After weekly demos, we extend the model to every site. Finally your team gets notes and training.
Automotive analytics with Power BI: FAQ
Does Power BI for a dealership connect to our dealer management system?
It depends on the vendor and on your agreement with them. Some systems offer data feeds or scheduled reports, and others allow more direct access. We check your exact setup during the assessment. If only exports exist, we load them on a schedule, which still gives managers a reliable morning view.
Can Power BI for a dealer group compare stores with different brands?
Yes. The model uses shared definitions for units, gross and expenses, so a store selling one brand compares fairly with a store selling another. Where brands report in different ways, we map their categories to a common set. You can then view results by store, brand or region on one page.
Is Power BI useful for an automotive parts supplier?
Yes. A supplier gains most by linking production data with cost and delivery data. Then scrap, downtime and late shipments carry a dollar meaning, and the team can rank problems. Power BI does not replace your quality system. Instead it reads from it and shows trends across lines, parts and customers.
How do store managers receive their reports?
Most open the Power BI app on a laptop or phone each morning. We can also set up a subscription that emails a snapshot of a page on a schedule. Each manager sees only their own store through security roles, while group leaders see every location in the same report.
