Sales pipeline analytics that shows how your pipeline changed
Sales pipeline analytics shows how your pipeline reached its current state. Your CRM shows what is open now. However, it rarely shows which deals stalled, which close dates slipped or whether coverage will hit the number. So we connect Dynamics 365, Salesforce or HubSpot to Power BI and record pipeline history on a schedule.
- Weekly pipeline snapshots
- Coverage and slippage measures
- Each rep sees their own deals

Why don't CRM reports show sales pipeline history?
A CRM record holds the current stage, amount and close date of a deal. Once a rep updates it, the old value usually sits in an audit log. Standard reports struggle to use that log.
As a result, many teams cannot say how their pipeline looked four weeks ago. They also cannot say how much of it has slipped since. So we add a snapshot table.
On a schedule, a dataflow or a Fabric pipeline copies open opportunities into a dated history store. The model then compares any two snapshots. Where your CRM already keeps usable history, we use it to backfill earlier periods.

Questions sales pipeline analytics should answer
Revenue leaders usually want these questions answered first.
- Is there enough open pipeline to cover the quarterly target?
- Where in the funnel do deals stall or drop out?
- Which reps keep pushing close dates, and by how much?
- How long does a typical deal take from creation to win?
- Which lead sources turn into revenue rather than activity?
- How has the forecast changed since the quarter began?
Sales pipeline measures we define with your leaders
Each definition is written down and signed off, so every team calculates it the same way.
Pipeline coverage
Open, qualified pipeline divided by the remaining target, by team, region or rep.
Stage conversion
The share of deals moving from each stage to the next, showing where the funnel leaks.
Sales cycle length
Days from opportunity creation to close, split by segment and deal size.
Win rate
Won deals against all closed deals, by product, source and competitor where recorded.
Close-date slippage
How often and how far expected close dates move, an early sign of an optimistic forecast.
Weighted and committed forecast
Probability-weighted pipeline beside each rep's own commit, so managers can discuss the gap.
Building sales pipeline analytics from CRM data
The work follows a fixed order, with a demo and written sign-off after each step.
Audit the CRM fields
First, we check how stages, amounts, owners and close dates are really used, since practice often drifts from setup.
Connect and capture history
The CRM connector feeds the model, and the snapshot process starts recording changes.
Model the sales pipeline funnel
A star schema with opportunity, account, owner and date tables, plus a documented DAX measure library.
Roll out by role
Leaders get the full picture, while row-level security gives each rep and manager their own territory.
How is this different from a sales dashboard?
A power bi sales dashboard reports results: revenue, orders and growth by region or product. This service focuses on the pipeline before the sale, including its history. The two work well together on one model.
Connection details depend on your CRM. For Salesforce, see power bi salesforce integration. For HubSpot, see power bi hubspot integration. Dynamics 365 Sales connects through Dataverse, with no extra tools needed.
Once history builds up, forecasting becomes more reliable. Then power bi sales forecasting can use past conversion and slippage to project the quarter. Meanwhile, finance sees bookings next to invoiced revenue.
Sales pipeline analytics questions
Why not just use the dashboards inside our CRM?
CRM dashboards work well for the current state of deals. Power BI adds history and combines CRM data with finance and product data. It also handles harder measures, such as slippage and coverage over time. Many teams keep both, each for its own job.
Can reps see only their own sales pipeline in Power BI?
Yes. Dynamic row-level security filters the model by the signed-in user. So a rep sees their own pipeline, while a regional manager sees the whole team. Leaders see everything. We test each role before launch, using real accounts from each level.
Can we match won pipeline to invoiced sales?
Yes, if we can connect your finance or ERP system as well. Matching the two often shows where deals change after signing, such as discounts or delays. Therefore we agree the matching rules with sales operations and finance together. Deals with no match then appear on their own page for review.
What if our CRM data is messy?
Most CRM data is. We report data quality openly, for example deals with no amount or close dates in the past. Then sales operations can fix the source instead of hiding the problem. Over time, the exceptions list gets shorter.
