Power BI for telecom carriers and internet providers
Power BI for telecom helps carriers and internet providers see subscribers, revenue, network quality and support load together. Billing and network systems produce huge volumes of records, so the model has to summarize them well. Our consultants design that model inside your own Microsoft tenant. Commercial and technical teams then work from the same figures instead of separate exports.
- Subscriber churn views
- Network and support joined
- Models sized for volume

What questions does Power BI for telecom answer?
A telecom provider lives on recurring revenue. Therefore the key questions are steady ones. How many subscribers joined and left? What does each one pay on average? Where does the network struggle, and do customers leave because of it?
Each answer sits in a different system. Billing knows plans and payments. The network platform knows outages and usage. The support desk knows tickets. So the link between a poor connection and a canceled plan stays hidden unless someone joins the data.
A shared model makes that link visible. For example, it can show churn beside ticket counts for the same area. Then the retention team calls the right customers first, and engineers see which fix protects the most revenue.

Dashboards for carriers and service providers
These six pages cover the commercial and the technical side, because each one explains the other.
Subscriber movement
Track additions, disconnects and net change by plan, region and month, so growth has a clear source.
Churn analysis
See which tenure bands, plans and areas lose customers fastest. Then test what those groups share.
Revenue per user
Average revenue per user appears by segment over time, and upgrades stand apart from downgrades.
Network performance
Outage counts, duration and affected subscribers sit on one page, since impact matters more than volume.
Support and tickets
Measure ticket volume, first response and time to resolve. Leaders also see repeat contacts.
Field operations
Installs and repairs show by crew and area, so dispatch can balance the workload.
How does telecom data reach Power BI at this volume?
Volume is the main design issue. Usage and event records can run to very large row counts, and loading all of them into a report would be slow. So we summarize early. Daily or hourly totals usually answer the business question just as well.
Power BI offers several tools for large data. Incremental refresh loads only new periods instead of the full history. DirectQuery leaves detail in the source database while the report queries it on demand. We choose between them after we see your sources, because each has trade-offs.
The usual sources are the billing system, a CRM, network monitoring and a ticketing tool. Many providers also run a data warehouse. If you have one, we build on it, since that avoids a second copy of the same logic. Very large usage tables usually need a warehouse, so power bi data warehouse consulting plans that layer.
Signs a provider needs Power BI for telecom reporting
When these appear together, the reporting stack has fallen behind the business.
- Churn numbers differ between teams
- Reports time out on large tables
- Network and billing data never join
- Executives wait for a monthly deck
- Support trends hide in ticket exports
- Field crews plan from old spreadsheets
How we build Power BI for telecom providers
Large data punishes guesswork, so we test design choices before we commit to them.
Free technical assessment
We spend half an hour on your sources and volumes. Then we outline a sensible design.
Scope and design note
The written quote names tables, grain and refresh method, so both sides know the plan.
Prototype on real volume
We load a realistic slice first. If a page runs slowly, we change the design before it spreads.
Weekly demos to handover
Your team reviews progress every week. Finally we pass on the files with full documentation.
Telecom dashboards in Power BI: common questions
Can Power BI for a carrier cope with very large usage tables?
Yes, with the right design. We rarely import raw usage records into a report. Instead we build summary tables at the grain the business needs and keep detail in the source. Incremental refresh and DirectQuery both help. Capacity and license choices also matter here, so we point you to Microsoft's documentation for current limits.
Does Power BI for telecom predict which subscribers will leave?
Power BI shows patterns clearly, such as churn by tenure, plan or area, and its key influencers visual highlights factors linked to an outcome. However, a true prediction score needs a separate model. If you already produce one, we display it in the reports. We do not claim that a dashboard alone forecasts behavior.
How fresh will these Power BI dashboards be?
That depends on the page. Commercial views usually refresh once or a few times a day, which suits billing cycles. Operational views of the network may need fresher data, so those often query the source directly. We agree the timing for each page in the scope, because it drives the design.
Will engineers and sales see the same report?
They see the same model, but not always the same pages. Each team gets pages shaped around its own decisions. Because the measures come from one place, a subscriber count matches wherever it appears. Security roles can also limit a regional manager to a single market.
Who are you, and how do you work?
We are Power BI Agency, a division of Sataware Technologies, and we are independent of Microsoft. Our consultants do all the work remotely. Everything happens inside your tenant. You see a demo each week, and the scope sits in a written quote.
