A Power BI supply chain dashboard from supplier to customer
A Power BI supply chain dashboard helps planners follow goods from supplier to customer on one screen. Purchase orders, stock, shipments and customer orders join in a single model. So a late inbound load shows its effect on open sales orders at once. Our consultants build it inside your own Microsoft tenant, using the ERP and warehouse data you already hold.
- Supplier on-time delivery
- Stock cover by item
- Orders at risk flagged

What does a Power BI supply chain dashboard reveal?
Supply chains fail at the handoffs. Purchasing watches suppliers. The warehouse watches stock. Customer service watches orders. Each team has its own report, but nobody sees the chain as a whole.
An end to end view links those handoffs. For example, it connects a delayed purchase order to the item, then to the stock level, then to the customer orders waiting for that item. As a result, a planner knows which customers to warn today.
The view also shows patterns over time. One supplier may slip a little on every order. One lane may cost more each quarter. Those trends hide in daily noise, yet they stand out on a chart that spans a year.

Measures planners watch from source to delivery
Start with service and stock, because those two tell you most about the health of the chain.
On time and in full
Measure customer orders shipped complete and on the promised date, by customer, site and product.
Supplier delivery
Compare promised and actual receipt dates per supplier. Then rank them by reliability and lead time.
Stock cover
Show days of cover per item against demand, so both shortages and excess appear early.
Backorders
List open customer orders that lack stock, and also show the inbound supply that will clear them.
Freight cost
Track cost per shipment and per unit by lane and carrier, since small rises add up.
Forecast against actual demand
Compare the plan with real orders by item. Planners then learn where the forecast misleads them.
Which systems supply the data for Power BI?
The ERP provides purchase orders, sales orders, items and stock. A warehouse system adds movements and locations, while a transport system adds shipments and carrier cost. Many companies also keep the demand forecast in a planning tool or in Excel.
Power BI connects to common databases and to several ERP platforms that Microsoft documents. For other systems we use an API, ODBC or exports into a staging database. We confirm each route in the assessment. Large transaction tables also need incremental refresh, so that only new periods load. When many systems feed one chain, power bi data warehouse consulting can design the staging layer first.
Master data is the weak point in most chains. If an item carries two codes, its stock splits in two. Therefore we check item, supplier and site lists first, and we report every duplicate.
Common faults in a Power BI supply chain dashboard
Each of these can make a chain look healthier than it is.
- Service measured by ship date only
- Supplier dates changed after the fact
- Stock shown without demand beside it
- Freight left out of landed cost
- Duplicate item codes split the totals
- Reports refresh less often than plans change
How we build a Power BI supply chain dashboard
We follow the flow of goods when we build, so each stage adds one link.
Free chain review
A thirty minute call covers your systems and the questions planners ask daily. Then we propose a first link to model.
Scope in a written quote
Sources, measures and sites go on paper, so the cost holds.
Build link by link
We model orders and stock first. After that, suppliers and freight join the same tables.
Weekly demos
Planners test each page against cases they know. Finally your team takes over with full notes.
Supply chain reporting in Power BI: FAQ
Can a Power BI supply chain dashboard warn us about late orders?
Yes. The model can flag customer orders whose stock depends on a late inbound delivery. Data alerts in the Power BI service can also notify someone when a figure on a dashboard tile crosses a limit you set. Still, a warning only helps if the ERP dates are current, so we check that habit too.
Does the dashboard in Power BI need a data warehouse?
Not always. With one ERP and moderate volumes, Power BI can load data directly on a schedule. When several systems or very large tables come into play, a staging database makes the model faster and easier to maintain. We advise on that after we study your sources, and we explain the reason.
How do you define on time and in full?
We define it with you. Some companies measure against the customer's requested date, and others against the promised date. Partial shipments need a rule as well. We write the chosen rule down and show it on the page. Then nobody argues over what the figure means.
Can suppliers see their own scorecard?
They can, if you choose to share it. Power BI supports sharing with external users through guest access, subject to your tenant settings and licenses. Row-level security then limits each supplier to its own records. Your IT team decides whether to allow this, and we design the model so the option stays open.
Who is Power BI Agency?
We are a division of Sataware Technologies, a small team of experienced consultants that is independent of Microsoft. All work happens remotely, inside your tenant. We do not resell licenses. You receive a written quote with a fixed scope before any billing starts.
